HTH 305 Artifacts: Survey and Agenda

Below are the results of the survey I sent to group members - of the seven group members, four people responded.

HANDOUT GIVEN TO ACTION GROUP MEMBERS

GOAL: TO DEVELOP A RICH PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY FOR INCLUSION SPECIALISTS (I.S.) ACROSS OUR SCHOOLS

Focus Questions:
What structures are necessary in order to achieve the goal?
(Who participates?  Where?  On what basis?  Who facilitates?)

Norms: (From Daniel Baron and Gene Thompson Grove)
“If you think it, say it.  If you wonder it, ask it.”

1 Journal – Brainstorm responses to the focus questions. (5 minutes)

1. Read Directors’ Ideas on handout (2 minutes)

2. Pair-Share – Each group member shares ideas and thinking in response to the focus questions with a partner. (5 minutes)

3. Journal – Each group member records any new thinking, questions, or ideas, and then identifies his/her favorite ideas in response to each question. (5 minutes)

4. Two Group Share-Out: Divide in to two small groups.  Going around the circle, each person has 2 minutes to share their favorite idea(s) in response to the focus questions, and they are written in bullet form on the white board or chart paper.  After each person shares, clarifying questions are asked if necessary.  (Note:  group members do not need to respond to the ideas of others– each person has the opportunity to simply explain their own ideas and thoughts from their writing). (12 min)

5. Probing Questions: Each member of the group has an opportunity to ask a probing questions of any other group member or members. It is important that each person in the group get the chance to respond to at least one
probing question. This can continue until clarity is reached or as long as time allows. (10 minutes)

6. Synthesize In Writing:  This is an opportunity for each group member to make sense of what’s been said. (5 minutes)

7.  Action Group’s Favorite Ideas to Share with I.S:  Each group shares a synopsis of the group’s favorite ideas, and they are recorded on the board.  Any similarities are noted and highlighted.  Katie will take the “final” list of “favorite ideas” to the Inclusion Specialists for more feedback. (10 minutes)
